The situation with the reduction of the staff of the American diplomatic missions in Russia and the temporary suspension of issuing visas commented on the US Ambassador John Tefft. He’s dismayed at the attempt of some commentators to interpret the visa issue as an attempt of revenge for the reduction of staff of the US diplomatic mission.
Response Tefft posted on the page of the American Embassy in Facebook. It stresses that the suspension of issuing visas is associated with a reallocation of staffing resources.
“We expect that the Russian side this will not come up,” added Tefft.
Moscow demanded to reduce the staff of the diplomatic missions of the USA in response to the ongoing Washington anti-Russian measures. From 23 August to 1 September, the issuance of U.S. non-immigration visas into Russia terminated – the process of dismissal of employees. From September 1, visa will be issued only in Moscow.
