Wild men: in Odessa, the “patriots” broke the bust of Marshal Zhukov

In Odessa vandals dismantled plaster bust of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov. In this way Ukrainian activists celebrated the Day of independence.

The monument stood on the corner of the Avenue of the Heavenly hundred (the former Zhukov Avenue) and street of Academician Glushko, reports the edition “Duma”.

On the night of 24 August, unidentified “activists of the Patriotic organizations” got rid of the bust of Marshal from the pedestal, took him to the Stroganov bridge and hung over Devolanovsky descent, which the locals call ditch.

As stated by an activist of the banned in Russia “Right sector” Sergey Sternenko, so the “patriots” decided to celebrate the independence Day of Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Commission of Moscow city Council on monumental art Igor Voskresensky called the damage of the bust of Marshal Zhukov in Odessa, “the ideological struggle through culture”. “The wild people. A normal sane person such acts do not repeat again”, — he said RBC .

This is not the first such case. So, in November 2014, vandals stole the bust of Zhukov, and then had to make a new monument. And in June 2017 attackers dismantled a memorial plaque to the Marshal, which was established on the same street in Odessa.
