The head of the press service of the U.S. Department of State Heather Nauert at a regular briefing, discussed with journalists the crisis situation after the suspension of the issuance of U.S. non-immigrant visas on the territory of Russia.
As the representative of the American foreign Ministry, it is not necessary to see the incident in a specific response, the United States of Russia or the desire to “annoy”. According to Neurath, the crisis with the issuance of visas just because of the reduction of the us diplomatic corps, demanded by President Vladimir Putin, led to the fact that the paperwork simply was no one.
“Unfortunately, we had to reduce the staff of our diplomatic missions in Russia, including consular officers. In the end we had to pause in the issuance of visas to Russians who want to come to the United States,” she added.

“Of course, in the future the issuance of visas in the normal mode will be resumed. But the process will still go slower because we have less dealing with this issue of staff… the work of our consular staff focused on ensuring the needs of American citizens… the Russian authorities knew about it and could imagine that something like this,” – summed up the representative of the U.S. Department of state Heather Nauert.
