Researchers of the island Matua is lifted from the bottom of the mysterious warship

The Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation and the Russian geographical society continues the study of the Kuril Islands Matua puzzles. This time experts have discovered a warship mysterious origin.

On the Kuril island of Matua ongoing joint expedition of the Ministry of defense of Russia and the Russian geographical society. The island, which during the Second world war was an impregnable military base in Japan, holds many mysteries, some of which have already been solved by researchers.

This time the expedition managed to locate the sunken warship. Professionals PRO has detected unknown object at the bottom, after which it took a group of divers.

At first the assumptions raised by the object was supposed to be the Japanese ship “ROI Maru”, torpedoed by the Americans during the war. However, on closer examination it turned out that the expedition is lifted from the bottom of the German ship.

“It used to be that it is “ROI Maru”. Now we see that the ship is German. But very often there are situations when the ship served in one country, transferred or sold to another country, where, of course, was given another name. It is therefore possible that the infamous “ROI Maru” was at the birth of the “Augsburg””, — said the Executive Director of the Center for undersea research of the RGS Sergei Fokin.

Specialists of the Russian geographical society have already begun work on the fate of the raised vehicle. Found on the type label clearly visible the inscription “Augsburg” was the name of a German armored cruiser, transferred to Japan as reparations in 1920. The researchers intend to apply German colleagues, who are known for their careful attitude to the archives to clarify the origin of the vessel.

This is not the only and far not the last mystery of the island of Matua. Previously, the researchers found a fleet of Japanese military equipment, the entrance to the bunker where, according to one theory, was located a whole “underground city” in 45 floors and found out the fate of the Japanese powerful artillery.
