American Baltimore kicked off the ship with the first batch of coal in Ukraine in Kiev signed a contract with the local mining company. Valuable load weighing 85 thousand tons waiting in the Square by the beginning of September. Until the end of the year States must send for the ocean 700 thousand tons of coal.
“The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly took part in the ceremony of sending American thermal coal for the needs of PJSC “Centrenergo” in the sea port of Baltimore (USA), reported the Embassy of Ukraine. – The event was attended by the Deputy U.S. Secretary of Commerce Israel Hernandez, assistant Secretary of energy for international Affairs, wells Griffith and the company Xcoal”.
As stated in the course of the event Chaly, the delivery and subsequent – the basis of energy security of Ukraine, shaken because of the “unfriendly” actions of Russia. The diplomat thanked the United States for help.
A day earlier the head of “Centrenergo” Oleg Kozenko announced the signing of a contract with Xcoal Energy & Resources, as a result of agreements between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine. Under the contract the American side agrees to deliver to the end of the year 700 thousand tons of coal. The first batch of a volume of 85 thousand tons is expected to arrive in Ukraine early next month, until the end of September is expected to deliver an additional 125 thousand tons.
Earlier it was reported that the US several times raised purchasing prices for coal in Ukraine – up to $206 compared to $140 in 2016. The experts noted that the rise in prices connected with the emergency procurement on the part of Kiev, who have to hurry to “plug the holes” in the industry. However, according to the contract, the price of the first shipment of American coal was $113 per ton including delivery to Odessa, but the price will vary from delivery to delivery.
As was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the country intends to buy from the Pennsylvania two million tons of coal. The head of the Ukrainian foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin was told that they are “very competitive”. The leader of the Radical party, MP Oleg Lyashko, in turn, commented on the decision of the authorities: the Ukrainian miners planted a big pig.
