Putin zeroed in VAT on air travel in the Kaliningrad region

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed to remove VAT on air transport in the Kaliningrad oblast. He explained that the geographical position of the region. Minister of transport Maxim Sokolov believes that this will lead to a fall in the price of tickets from Moscow to Kaliningrad.

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting on development of transport infrastructure of the North-West of Russia instructed not to charge VAT on air transport in the Kaliningrad oblast.

“This is the only exclave region of Russia, in connection with which, despite the Ministry’s position on the need to preserve the integrity of the tax system, to Kaliningrad, you can make an exception”, – TASS quotes the opinion of Putin.

The Russian leader noted that due to the geographical situation of the Kaliningrad region, there are certain difficulties with communication. Therefore, in his opinion, there should either fully subsidize the 10% or VAT to remove, reports “Interfax”.

The President stressed that it “will investors benefit because the volume of traffic will increase seriously, and for citizens, for business and for representatives of power structures, the situation will change.”

According to the head of Ministry of transport Maxim Sokolov, this measure may lead to a fall in the price of tickets from Moscow to Kaliningrad and back below 9 thousand rubles
