NATO has criticized Putin’s visit to Abkhazia without the consent of Georgia

Acting as the official representative of the Alliance Dylan white on Tuesday, August 8, said the Western military bloc deeply regret that the visit to Abkhazia of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the anniversary of the war in South Ossetia in 2008 took place without the prior consent of the Georgian authorities.

NATO believe that the trip of the Russian President in Abkhazia harming the efforts for a peaceful settlement of the already tense situation in the region.

“The visit of President Putin to the Georgian region of Abkhazia, the ninth anniversary of the armed conflict, harms international efforts to find a peaceful solution through negotiations,” said white.

Earlier the Georgian foreign Ministry condemned the visit of Putin to Abkhazia.
