Former speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze has accused former President Mikheil Saakashvili for the war in South Ossetia in 2008. She admits that this point of view it is still regarded as a traitor.
“The war was started by Saakashvili. The responsibility for these tragic events lies primarily on it”, – the politician said in an interview with RT.
According to Burjanadze, in this view, the media called her the enemy of Georgia, though the EU Commission and the Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini, who headed an international Commission on investigating the causes of the military conflict, long ago confirmed that the order for the start of the offensive was given from Tbilisi.
“In Georgia uncomfortable talking about what started the war, Saakashvili. No one wants to focus on this and speak on this topic,” – said Burjanadze.
However, recently the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has deprived of his Ukrainian passport, turning Saakashvili in person without citizenship. However, the latter says that to this day quietly travels the world with the Ukrainian documents.
