Ukraine gathered to criminalize a visit to the Crimea from Russia

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine introduced a bill on criminal punishment for attending Crimea through the Ukrainian border crossing points to foreigners.

The document, initiated by the President of the country in Parliament Iryna Lutsenko and the head of the faction “block of Petro Poroshenko” Arthur Gerasimov, it is assumed that for the first illegal from the point of view of Ukrainian legislation, crossing the border of Crimea, followed by a criminal sentence of up to 3 years.

In case of a repeated similar violation, the punishment will be from 3 to 5 years.

If an armed breakthrough time will increase to 8 years.

In the explanatory note to the bill States that currently the Ukrainian authorities have no real effective measures for the impact on border crossers: the maximum period is 15 days of administrative arrest and up to 8 thousand rubles (3,400 Euro) fine.

So, “lost” in the Kerch Strait, the Russian border guards have received only 14 days of arrest, written by the authors of the document, and was fined 320 UAH.

Experts interviewed by “Kommersant”, indicate a high probability of the adoption of the bill in the autumn session of the Verkhovna Rada.
