The Federation Council: the state Department was more “sobriety” regarding sanctions against Russia

The representative of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Sergei Tsekov on Friday, August 4, responded positively to the statement of the speaker of the State Department of the United States Heather Nauert that Russia and the United States, despite the sanctions, it is necessary to seek joint areas of cooperation, reports RT.

According to the representative of the upper house of the Russian Parliament, the American foreign Ministry was more “sober” than other agencies of the United States.

“In America there are adequate people. They understand that entered against Russia sanctions are excessive: they cross out the options for cooperation with Russia in international Affairs. … The state Department was not a developer of the law on sanctions, which limits Executive power, denying the President the opportunity to lift the sanctions. For this reason, the state Department could not agree with this law. There is an understanding that there are many problems that must be solved”, — said Russian Senator.

Despite a number of unfriendly actions by the US, Russia will continue to seek common ground, said Tsekov.
