The Polish defense Ministry has threatened the Pentagon to abandon the purchase of air defence systems Patriot, reports Defense News with reference to the text of a letter allegedly sent from Warsaw to Washington on July 15.
According to the newspaper, the letter, the Polish side announced a number of terms which the American authorities are obliged to perform to happen.
So, for starters, the US must transfer to Poland elements of the technology control system and a radar system PAC-3, as well as launchers. In addition, Warsaw is interested in the secret information, which will allow to transfer to Poland the production of SkyCeptor missiles and radars based on gallium nitride.
If these provisions are not implemented, Poland will abandon the US proposals for the procurement of Patriot, it was emphasized in the letter.
After the content of the message became known to the media, the Polish government tried to soften the wording. In a special statement published on the website of the Ministry of defense, said that Warsaw “will continue negotiations in a spirit of mutual understanding”.
The military Department also criticized the media in an attempt to spoil relations between the two States and the use of “selective extracts” from the correspondence of Poland and the United States, RIA Novosti reported.
The agreement on supply of air defense systems Patriot were reached between the countries in July, during a visit to Warsaw of the us President Donald trump. It is expected that the complexes will be transferred to Poland until 2022.
