Maduro convened a Constitutional Assembly, despite protests

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will not give up the intention to convene a Constitutional Assembly, despite the opposition of the referendum and calls for other countries to refuse from convocation of the body.

“I’m convening a Constitutional Assembly for the sake of independence and sovereignty, and Europe let him say what he wants. We don’t care what was said in Europe”, – quotes the words of the leader of the Venezuelan TV channel Venezolana de Televisión.

As previously reported, the President of the United States Donald trump has threatened his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro “decisive economic action”, if the latter shall convene a constituent meeting on 30 July.
