The MEP complained Mogherini on the EU’s failure to issue a Schengen residents of Crimea


MEP Yana Toom sent to the high representative of the Union for foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini’s request in connection with received by the inhabitants of Crimea denials of Schengen visas.

“More than 90% of Crimean residents received Russian citizenship after the events of 2014, given that de facto, the Peninsula is effectively under Russian control. These individuals are unable to obtain a Schengen visa in the embassies, working in Kiev”, – quotes the MEP Delfi.

Toom asked Mogherini to understand the situation and respond, whether in the embassies in Moscow or Kiev to get a Schengen visa in the Russian passport and are there any plans to review the policy of issuing visas to Crimeans.
