The head of VTSIOM Valery Fyodorov in an interview with TV channel “Rain” has commented on the statement of Vladimir Solovyov about coming to meetings of “two percent of the shit.”
According to the sociologist, “that, sorry, “shit” much more”. In response to clarifying questions leading Anna Nemzer whether Fedorov in mind the participants of protest rallies, he said that he treats the question broadly.
He explained that referred to “shit” those people who “engage in discussions about the fate of Russia, not really being concerned about this destiny. It’s people who have no love for our Homeland, these are people who have no desire to make it better, it’s the people who are always ready to criticize, to protest, with or without cause, touches them or not.”
However, many of these citizens of Russia, said the head of the Polls, criticized her “from other countries, while claiming that it is impossible to live, and cannot remain silent”.
Fedorov shared his expert assessment that these Russians — “generally about 15%, according to our data”, although added that the percentage may fluctuate in the range of from 12 to 18. In the end, he found for them a universal characteristic: “those who are negative against the policy of Vladimir Putin, his regime and partly to his person”.
In the future, speaking specifically on participants of the rallies, Fedorov stated that present at these young people accounted for one fifth of all who took to the streets, but the cameras pay more attention to young people. To assess their motives, he could not, saying only that to be dissatisfied with the current Russian President Vladimir Putin — “an absolute taboo for the majority of Russians” due to the annexation of Crimea.
Fedorov, however, did not dare to mention the name of organizer of rallies Alexei Navalny, Putin’s critics, calling it a leading made a “brave woman”: “to Criticize the figure of this level, most people simply do not dare”. According to the sociologist, Putin caught up in the historical scale, with Winston Churchill and Peter Stolypin.
Recall that in 2015, Fedorov explained that, thanks to Putin, “the company changed the point of view — and now what had seemed terrible and unacceptable, perceived as scary, and even normal.” However, he explained this change in an almost religious way, saying that Russia is over “profane” (ordinary) time and started “historic”.
