The head of the PACE kicked from the faction because of a trip with Russian deputies

The head of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Pedro Agramunt, was expelled from the European people’s party after what he had previously travelled to Syria together with the Russian deputies.

As reports TASS with reference to the press service of the party, on Wednesday, June 28, held a meeting at which a majority of the votes Agramunt was expelled from the faction.

“The decision is not unanimous, but decided by a large majority,” – said in the party. The official reasons for the expulsion of Agramunt will be announced later.

Previously, PACE adopted a resolution changing the rules of the organization. Now the organization will be able to announce Agramunt impeachment.

The PACE President visited Syria together with the deputies of the state Duma in March of this year. However, he stressed that the visit as a private citizen and not as the representative of the international organization.
