Lavrov: Russia is not “jealous” rapprochement of Belarus with the European Union

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on Friday, 23 June, said that the Kremlin does not experience feelings of jealousy about the rapprochement between Belarus and the European Union, because this warming of relations could serve as the basis for the disorder of friendly relations between Moscow and Minsk.

“With regard to the process of rapprochement between Belarus and the European Union — we have no allergies at all, no feeling of jealousy, it is a natural desire of any country, including Russia, seek mutually beneficial relations with all its neighbors” — said the head of Russian diplomacy.

Lavrov also welcomed the “inspiration” of the European Union in connection with the failure of the European policy of sanctions against Belarus.

“I hope that they do this in order to again try to tear Belarus from Russia, and just because it was convinced that any sanctions is a road to nowhere,” — concluded Lavrov.
