During construction works carried out in Poland, the operator of the excavator together with the ground lifted up from the Earth two-handed sword of XIV, or even the end of the XIII century. The researchers suggest that in the distant past, ancient weapons, salinola in the swamps that were on the site of the present building.
Representatives of the Polish Museum of stanisław Staszic, studies discovered the sword, declare that the depths of the swamps are not the most optimal conditions for such weapons. However, the sword is surprisingly well preserved for six centuries — although its blade and the handle, of course, were rusty, now they came almost intact. The shape of the weapon more reminiscent of those used by the knights of the XIV century, who wore heavy armor.
Scientists also can’t yet clearly answer the question, how the sword turned up in a marsh. For a long time in the area was located only a few cabins, so the knight or other person who has a high enough status and money to buy good weapons, almost nothing was here to search. Experts do not exclude that the owner of the sword went into a swamp by mistake, and the sword is either lost or deliberately thrown away to more likely to out yourself. It is also possible that the sword was lost towards the end of the XIV century — the time in this territory, the castle was built
Experts note that the region where the discovery was made, to 1366, was part of Kievan Rus, and then became part of the Kingdom of Poland. The specific place where was made the discovery, the experts are kept secret, because I admit that there may be discovered other artifacts, and would prevent them from looting.
The researchers plan to study the sword still for some time, after which it will be exhibited in the Museum.
