Ukraine has issued the first fine for wearing a St. George ribbon

The police of Ukraine has ordered the first penalty for open carrying the ribbons. Penalty was imposed on the resident of Dnipropetrovsk, which took part in the event on the occasion of the Day of mourning and commemoration in memory of the victims of the war.

Against women was drawn up under article 173-3 of the Code, the Production and promotion of St. George’s ribbons, reports the portal “Facts and comments”. The amount of the penalty is not specified.

The law prohibiting the use in the country of St. George (guards) ribbon, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in mid-may of this year. It entered into force on 15 June.

For carrying this attribute can be punished with a fine from 50 to 150 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from 800 to 2,500 hryvnia) for repeated violation the fine increases substantially, in addition, the “offender” would face arrest for up to 15 days.

Note that on June 22, Ukraine celebrates the Day of mourning and honoring the memory of the victims of war.
