Media: US Navy destroyer failed to intercept a ballistic missile

The U.S. Navy unsuccessfully conducted exercises to intercept ballistic missiles, according to the publication Defence News.

According to him, the exercise was conducted with the help of interceptors, sea-based SM-3 Block IIA off the coast of Hawaii. It is reported that the destroyer John Paul Jones, equipped with a system of tracking and guidance Aegis, could not intercept launched from Kauai ballistic medium-range missiles.

The publication indicates that the Pentagon promised to investigate the incident and then to disclose details.
