Media: the White house wants to retain flexibility on the issue of sanctions

The President of the United States Donald trump and his administration want to develop together with the Congress amendments to the bill on new sanctions against Russia, writes Politico.

According to the publication, the White house is concerned that the new law would tie the hands of the authorities in terms of us-Russian relations. It is emphasized that the presidential administration has backed anti-Russian sanctions, “the political consequences of a veto hitherto not been discussed.” There’s also Express confidence that Congress has the power, fearing the possibility of creating a precedent in limiting the powers of the Executive power to control the sanctions.
