Putin called the Foucault pendulum in Isaakii a mockery of the religious feelings
15.06.2017
Russian President Vladimir Putin during a “Straight line” at the request of the workers of the Baltic shipyard commented on the situation with the transfer of the Saint Isaac’s Cathedral Russian Orthodox Church.
The President noted that Isaac was built as a Church to pray, not as a Museum. “And there is that arranged? Foucault’s pendulum was hung. The subtle mockery of the religious feelings of people”, – said the head of state.
He stressed that Russia is a secular state. In this case, it is possible to combine both a Museum and a temple, he said.
Putin also urged not to politicize the issue of St. Isaac’s Cathedral.
