During straight line Vladimir Putin spoke about the federalization of Ukraine. In his opinion, even the ideologists of Ukrainian nationalism, including the well-known Soviet dissident, one of the “fathers of the Ukrainian independence” and founding of the people’s movement, had spent eight years in Soviet prison camps, Vyacheslav Chornovil, supported the transformation of Ukraine into a Federal state.

Is it really so? “MK” has addressed for comments to the man who cascade in person, — the member of the human rights movement in the USSR, the former Deputy of the state Duma Vyacheslav Igrunov.
The cascade was the first person who spoke about the necessity of federalization of Ukraine — said a former dissident. — He was a smart man and he knew that a large part of the population of Ukraine is concentrated in industrialized cities, which inevitably imbued with Russian culture and who preserve ties with Russia. And the economy of Ukraine is closely connected with the Russian. So he knew that if Ukraine will remain a unitary state, majority Russian-speaking industrial cities, cultural centers of Ukraine will impose its vector of development, which he wasn’t too cute. Naturally, he wanted to avoid coercion of a significant part of the population of Ukraine to the Ukrainian vector. He wanted quiet evolution, when the territory of the Ukrainian ideology, the Ukrainian language could develop without coming into conflict with the Russian-speaking part. Such a Federal Ukraine, he was considered more stable and is able gradually to become an independent state. Under the slogan that federalization was the first presidential election campaign, during which the street took second place. And anything terrible in it nobody saw. Although Ukrainian nationalists were already sure that they will be able to impose by force the Russian-speaking population of their orders. For as Kuchma’s presidency, and subsequent presidents of the line were trying to implement, squeezing out the Russian language, trying to find an alternative to relations with Russia is very ambivalent in participating in the CIS. How it ended, we know that the loss of Crimea and civil war, the actual defection of Donbass and the establishment of authoritarian nationalist dictatorship without any sign of “Europeanism”, which Chornovil was tried. These are the sad results of the failure from the ideas cascade of federalization.
