U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson called on Congress to pass such legislation, that it might give the President the ability to change the sanctions regime.
“We would like to ask about more flexibility, to increase the pressure when necessary but also have the opportunity for dialogue,” he said.
Also at the hearings in Congress Tillerson answered the question of why the US does not conduct a tougher policy on sanctions against Russia.
“Unilateral measures are not as effective as multilateral,” said he.
Tillerson added that the US and Russia must not have such a bad relationship as it is now.
