Putin: Russian special services Have no capability for surveillance of citizens

The author of the four-part documentary about the Russian President, Oliver stone asked Vladimir Putin the question of whether intelligence agencies spying on Russian citizens. To which the President replied in the negative, noting that unlike USA, Russia has no such technical capabilities.

“No. I can tell you for sure,” said Putin.

The President also noted that since Soviet times people preserved the rejection of the permissiveness of the security services.

“We are better than USA, because we have no such technical capabilities. If it were, maybe we would have been the same as you. First, the funding is huge for the secret services in the US – we can’t afford. And then, you know, after the times of the USSR and of the absolute authoritarianism still we have a certain rejection to the permissiveness of the security services,” — said Vladimir Putin.
