The Pentagon has threatened a confrontation with China over the militarization of the Islands

USA can not tolerate the militarization of China’s artificial Islands in South China sea Washington is strongly against the deployment of Chinese weapons on these Islands. This statement was made by the Minister of defence of the USA James Mattis. According to the head of the Pentagon, this activity by China is a gross disregard for international law and flagrant disrespect for the interests of other States. He threatened that because of this dispute between the US and China may escalate the confrontation.

Despite the US desire to cooperate with China on the nuclear problem of the DPRK, Washington, according to Mattis, can not remain aloof from the actions of Beijing in the South China sea and do not permit placing Chinese weapons or other military facilities on artificial Islands, said on Saturday, June 3, Reuters.

“Because between the two largest economies in the world needs to be rivalry, conflict is not inevitable,” said the American Minister.

Mattis also stressed that the United States will increase its military presence in Asia to maintain stability in the region. As the head of the U.S. Department of defense, the Pentagon will take all possible diplomatic efforts to maintain stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We attach priority to this region, including relations with Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Australia,” said Mattis.

In addition, the Pentagon chief noted that the air force, the United States will fly combat aircraft and patrolling the waters of the South China sea.
