In the Kiev region died, the former head of the Greek Catholic Church cardinal Huzar

May 31 in Prince, near Kyiv, on 85-m to year of life died the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (2001-2011) Lubomyr Husar.

Condolences on the death of Archbishop-Emeritus of the UGCC expressed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The leader of the state cited one of the statements of the cardinal: “Peace means to love each other. Peace is not the absence of struggle.”

The retired Lubomyr Husar in 2011, was accepted by Benedict XVI – the current Pope – three years after the filing of the petition. The Vatican highly appreciated the selfless work of his Beatitude.

At the end of February 2013, cardinal Husar turned 80 years old and he has lost the right to participate in conclaves.
