The Ministry of culture of Ukraine explained why not touch “the Motherland” in Kiev

The dismantling of the Soviet Union flag on the monument “mother Motherland” in Kiev may be in conflict with the legislation of Ukraine on protection of cultural heritage and copyright. So the Ministry of culture of Ukraine explained why not touch the monument in the framework of de-communization in the country and an interdiction of communistic symbolics, reports UNN.

The Ministry also stated that the sculpture was created before the law on decommunisation effect. The monument “mother Motherland” in Kiev was opened in 1981.

Earlier it was reported that near the monument “mother Motherland” in Kiev will establish a memorial to “Russian Aggression”.
