In an interview with NSN Zakharova said that the words of the Montenegrin diplomat can be interpreted as an attempt to justify to its own population for joining NATO.

The representative of the Russian foreign Ministry added that ordinary Montenegrins were not eager to join NATO. She, in particular, explained the unwillingness of the authorities of Montenegro to hold a referendum.

“Officialdom afraid to show the true figures demonstrating the will of the Montenegrins” she concluded.

Earlier Darmanovic said that the country’s accession to NATO is not directed against any country, including Russia. However, he demanded that Moscow, in turn, does not climb into the Affairs of Montenegro and did not specify where to start.
