The administration of the 45th President of the United States, Donald trump intends to restart talks with Moscow on the resolution of the military conflict in Ukraine. According to The Washington Post, the initiative is overseen by the head of the state Department Rex Tillerson.
The Secretary of state has already discussed this issue with the foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov. As the newspaper notes, in fact, he offers to continue talks with Moscow on Ukraine, which began last year with the participation of the administration of Barack Obama, however, considering the new circumstances and personalities.
The Secretary of state also wants to appoint a special envoy from the state Department for the realization of the initiative in life. This employee, in particular, will hold talks with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov.
At the same time, the publication notes that the spokes in the wheel can stick an investigation around the “Russian intervention” in U.S. elections. Amid demands to tighten sanctions against Russia lawmakers from both parties look at attempts by trump to make a deal with the Kremlin skeptical.
