Russia will build the helicopter carrier type “Mistral” by 2022

In the Russian state armaments program 2018-2025 years include the construction of helicopter carriers “Mistral”. Delivery of the first ship is planned for 2022. This was stated on Thursday by Deputy defense Minister Yuri Borisov.

“The construction of the helicopter is, on average, four years, so I think, Yes, something like that (in 2022),” — said Borisov.

In 2010 Russia and France signed an agreement to supply the Russian Navy two helicopter “Mistral”, built at the French shipyards, and two more ships were planned to create in Russia. In 2014, in connection with the “Ukrainian crisis” in Paris pressured the allies in NATO and the EU demanded not to put Moscow such weapons. In August 2015 it became aware of the achievement between Russia and France agreement on the terms of termination of the contract. Two built for the Russian ship was sold to Egypt.
