The UN security Council on the request of the United States will consider the situation in Venezuela

The UN Security Council at an informal closed meeting on Wednesday, may 17, to discuss the situation in Venezuela, where the ongoing mass anti-government protests accompanied by riots. About this TASS said a source in the world organization.

According to him, with a request to hold the meeting appealed to the United States. The meeting will be held in the afternoon, following consultations on Somalia and Eritrea.

On Tuesday, may 16, the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States Luis Almagro blamed on the Venezuelan security forces “for the repression that led to killings, imprisonment and torture.”

In Venezuela, worsened the political crisis. The inhabitants of the country, dissatisfied with the economic situation, taking to the streets demanding the appointment of early elections. Tensions increased significantly after the beginning of April the Supreme court ruled to severely limit the power of opposition in the National Assembly. The decision sparked protests and was soon cancelled, however, the situation is not corrected. According to human rights activists, victims of the riots were 46 people, nearly a thousand injured.
