Poroshenko: Ukraine has forever departed from the Soviet and Russian empires

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the opening ceremony of the Europe Day in Ukraine on Sunday, 14 may, said that the Square over the years of independence has completely changed and moved permanently from “the Soviet and Russian empires,” according to “112 Ukraine”.

The Ukrainian leader also noted that Europe and the European Union became an example of democratic values and freedom for Ukraine, as well as “real synonyms reforms.”

Earlier, the EU decided to grant Ukraine the first tranche in the amount of 10 million euros to support public administration reform.

On 11 may, the EU Council approved a visa-free regime for Ukrainians with the European countries. The agreement on granting of visa-free regime will be signed on 17 may in Strasbourg.
