Russian President Vladimir Putin spent the first half of April secret telephone talks with head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko about the situation in the zone of armed conflict in the Donbass, reports “Kommersant” with reference to informed sources. This is despite the fact that at a high official level, Moscow and Kiev on a regular basis to exchange harsh accusations, and Russia in Ukraine was referred to as “an aggressor state”.

According to “Kommersant”, citing informed sources in Moscow and Kiev, during a telephone conversation, which took place at the initiative of the Ukrainian side and lasted about 20 minutes, Putin and Poroshenko had to joke, not to quarrel.
As told the interlocutor of the edition in Moscow, the conversation between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine took place in a “respectful business the correct way”, and the heads of state are periodically “switched to playfully ironic tone,” not to tell each other sharps.
However, to any specific agreements Putin and Poroshenko come and failed and the only thing able to move was “certain humanitarian issues”.
According to a source in Kiev, close to surrounded by Poroshenko, it was about the exchange of prisoners, the supply in the Donbass food, water and electricity, and on payment by the Ukrainian authorities of pensions to residents of the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk national republics.
