Matviyenko has submitted to the Duma a law to toughen rules of sale of SIM cards

In the State Duma introduced a bill tightening control over the sale of SIM cards. The document was prepared by a group of senators headed by Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko.

Under the bill, it is proposed to amend the law “On communications”. For SIM card want to consolidate so-called identification module.

Operators and agents will need to check the passport details of subscribers when selling them SIM cards. Also companies want to give access to the system of public services to enable them to verify information with the database of official agencies.

The document also provided the opportunity to undergo identification by establishing the electronic signature of the buyer.

Legislators said that now there is a system of the uncontrolled sale of SIM cards on the streets without a contract, which is being used by scammers.

Earlier, Matviyenko pointed to the fact that this bill will make life easier for the security services. As an example, she cited the terrorist attack in the subway of Saint Petersburg, which security forces could have prevented.
