The US air force planned testing of an Intercontinental ballistic missile Minuteman III on April 26.
As writes the edition of the Washington Examiner, the rocket, the basis of the strategic nuclear forces of the country, will be launched from air force base Vandenberg in California to demonstrate the nuclear capabilities of the United States.
It is noted that the test is not related to the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
“The launch of the Minuteman III required to check the status of our national nuclear forces, as well as to demonstrate our nuclear potential”, — said the representative of command of global strikes US air force Colonel John moss, who will give the command to launch.
Minuteman III is the only Intercontinental ballistic missile land-based, adopting in the United States, said RIA Novosti. The US has 450 of these missiles. They will remain in service of the country until at least 2020.
