The EU does not intend to “indefinitely” extend the sanctions against Russia

The European Union is not going to constantly renew sanctions against Russia, the EU are waiting for the termination of the Ukrainian conflict.

This was during his visit to Russia, said the head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini.

“We do not aim to renew the sanctions “indefinitely”. Our goal is to see the resolution of the conflict in the Eastern part of Ukraine to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements. As I said, sanctions in themselves are not politics, but one of the instruments that the European Union, together with many partners in the world uses to reach the end of the conflict in the Eastern part of Ukraine”, – she told in interview to Agency “Interfax”.

She also noted that as soon as the Minsk agreements are fully implemented, the sanctions will be lifted.
