Matviyenko called Roskomnadzor “sleepy Kingdom” because of the “groups of death” on the Internet

The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko on Monday, April 24, at the meeting of the Board of legislators criticized the head of the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of Telecom, information technologies and mass communications (Roskomnadzor) Alexander Zharov for poor fight against drug trafficking in the Network, and also dissemination in social networks “groups of death”, encouraging teenagers to commit suicide.

“Suggest a set of measures, what to do, how to stop the spread of drugs in the Internet. The same is true of suicides. Why you’re there, sleepy?”, – indignantly asked the head of Roskomnadzora the head of the upper house of Parliament.

Matviyenko also said about the need properly to assess the work of Roskomnadzora. “You’re always lagging behind. What don’t you understand? While dear Alexander Alexandrovich, the impression of the absence of all initiative and interest in these important issues,” – said the speaker of the Federation Council.

In turn, the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that after criticism of Matviyenko “it would be good to hear the Ministry of communications” on the Internet.

“Just last week adopted changes to the criminal code that establish liability for the creation of “groups of death” in social networks”, – said the head of the lower house of Parliament.

In addition, the speaker stated that at the next meeting of the Board of legislators, this issue will be discussed and reviewed with the involvement of the Minister of communications and mass communications Nikolay Nikiforov and the General Prosecutor’s office.
