Russia is expanding base in Tajikistan


The new building 451 th military hospital for the treatment of Russian servicemen and members of their families has opened on the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan.

“This hospital was built by decision of the Minister of defense of Russia. Now we put into operation modern medical-diagnostic centre, equipped with the latest medical equipment. The hospital has an annual treatment of more than three thousand patients,” — said at the opening ceremony the Deputy Minister of defence of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov. He also gave the hospital an icon of the Saviour on behalf of the Minister of defense of Russia.

According to Ivanov, on the basis of within the next three years it is planned the construction of four barracks, a few houses, a school, a kindergarten and support infrastructure.

201st military base — the largest military facility of Russia located abroad. Is stationed in Dushanbe and Kurgan-Tyube. According to the signed in October 2012 with the two countries ‘ agreement, the Union will remain in Tajikistan until 2042.
