The team from Voronezh air force Academy won the gold at the international mathematics Olympiad among the students of the CIS countries. Mathematical battles took place outside of Russia in Alma-ATA. All the competition was attended by six countries. Awards to winners were handed by the head of staff of the defense Ministry, Viktor Goremykin, Minister of defense of Kazakhstan, General Talgat Mukhtar.
International Olympiad was held at the Military engineering Institute of radio electronics and communications of the Ministry of defense of Kazakhstan. Here gathered a math team from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
The cadets of the Voronezh Military air Academy named after Zhukovsky and Gagarin won a landslide victory taking first places in almost all categories, including the most honorable in the absolute individual championship and the absolute team championship. Second place was taken by the cadets of the Military engineering Institute of radio electronics and communications of Ministry of defense of Kazakhstan, the third place went to the team of the Military Academy of Belarus. In the finals were the teams of Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. In addition, for the first time as observers in the competition participated the representatives of Uzbekistan’s Armed forces.
– The Minister of defence of Russia has always following very closely the conduct of these competitions and does everything that our tournament has expanded its borders to increasing the number of military intellectuals. This year’s international mathematics Olympiad special – the first time the competition took place outside of Russia, – said, speaking at the ceremony, Victor Goremykin.
In turn, the Secretary of the Council of defense Ministers of States-participants of the CIS major-General Yuri dashkin said that the competitions are held among cadets, “was allowed to feel not only the intelligence of each other, but also to ensure that in case of need, if we work together, we will win.”
The winner in the absolute individual championship Ivan Marchuk, told “MK” that the preparation started six months prior to the Olympics.
– Training was difficult, so I decided to combine cadet service, and math, but the result was worth it, he said.
He admitted that last year already participated in these competitions and be ready next year to support the honour of Russia in these intellectual battles.
The organizers of the event admitted that every year the level of competition is growing, and next year are expected to be very challenging team battles.
