One of the leading topics at the talks between Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was the situation in Ukraine. Budapest in General is good to Petro Poroshenko, however, the instability in the Donbas and the reluctance of Kiev to implement the Minsk agreements put into question the energy security of Hungary.

“We wanted to diversify supplies, but nothing happens,” he spread his hands Orban. And Vladimir Putin at a press conference following the talks explained, it’s another escalation in the South-East of Ukraine and which seeks Kiev.
According to the Russian President, for the resumption of hostilities in the Donbass, the Ukrainian authorities had several reasons.
First, they need the money, and their best “to knock the EU, U.S. and international financial institutions, exposing themselves to be victims of aggression.”
Second, during the presidential election in America Kiev made a bid for one of the candidates. More precisely, for a candidate. Local oligarchs have even been given the job to Finance her election campaign, however, the rate is known to be not played. Now, Putin said, Ukrainian authorities want to improve relations with the current administration, or at least pay attention to trump. And again, this is easiest to do it through bloody conflict.
Finally, there are internal causes. Amid the economic turmoil began to intensify Ukrainian opposition. To its slogans did not win people’s attention, the attention of citizens urgently need to switch to other problems. And here in the South-East of Ukraine once again rattle the shells and killing people.
“I think that the current Ukrainian government is not ready to implement the Minsk agreements and is looking for a reason to refuse its execution”, – Putin said, noting that now all depends on the reaction of the world community. “I hope that sensible forces in the Ukraine and those interested in matters of this kind by political means, will not allow to develop the situation in the worst case scenario, and on the contrary, will focus in order to fulfil the Minsk agreements”, – said the President.
Viktor Orban prudently refrained from criticism of Petro Poroshenko, who recently came to Hungary on a visit, and that a sin to conceal, met no less friendly reception than Vladimir Putin. “We are a small country and, despite national pride, do not claim a special role in geopolitics,” said he. According to him, Budapest has a vested interest in a stable and prosperous Ukraine. But the key to this is peace, not the resumption of fighting and the unresolved conflict with Russia, which casts doubt on the energy security of Hungary.
“How stable is the supply of gas through Ukraine? himself asked Orban (because the opinion of GDP on this account been known to all) and he answered himself, “I don’t know!” From time to time Hungary had honestly implemented the recommendations of Brussels on the diversification of supplies to get rid of energy dependence on Russia. Was built capacities for reverse supplies from the South, where there are alternative sources. “But neither Croatia nor Romania, nor the European Union for its part did not. Diversification is a good thing, but it should not become one-sided work,” complained the Prime Minister.
The wind of change blowing in from the Atlantic after the election trump, clearly made him braver. Publicly calling neighbors of the EU “hostile environment”, Viktor Orban said that in the current situation, Hungary would bet on Russia and Vladimir Putin. “Mr. President gave word that Hungary – or even zigzag – get oil and gas in the volumes necessary for the functioning of the country”, – he stressed.
“Zigzag” means not directly through Ukraine, and by branches from two pipelines – “Northern stream-2” or “Turkish stream.” However, GDP did not rule out that Russia will continue to use the Ukrainian transit to Europe after 2019, and the guarantees from the EU can return to the intensive care unit of the project “South stream”. “We are absolutely depoliticise these issues and do not exclude any routes. But we need guarantees,” the President said.
