Ukraine has turned into a “violent patient” of world politics

In the Donbass resumed large-scale fighting. Kiev authorities making the most of their opportunity to return Ukraine to a high position in the international political agenda. However, it turns out they have bad. The reaction of the world shows that Ukraine is increasingly perceived as a problem, it’s time to ignore.

The causes and undercurrents underlying the current escalation of hostilities in the Donbass, still waiting for his comprehension. In the heat of current events easy to slip into one or another conspiracy. Especially in this case, lack of facts, easy to fit in a very ingenious theory. For example, the entrance and of little interest to the media visit of the Ukrainian President to Germany has grown into a spectacular performance when he was interrupted because of the situation in Avdeevka. As a result, Ukraine, pretty forgotten and podnatorevshy Western media once again got on the front page.

“On a scale alarmism Kiev from the West should be very polite response in the style of “Yes, we are extremely concerned”

However, not less interesting and far more revealing are the official positions of the main parties involved in the conflict and its settlement in connection with the aggravation. We are talking about the Ukraine, the West (primarily on the main Western European powers and key international institutions), and Russia. These positions allow to draw conclusions about the place of the Ukrainian issue in the international agenda at the moment. News here to Kiev very disappointing.

The Ukrainian government for its part to the maximum extent use of the renewed hostilities, again to attract the attention and sympathy of the international community.

Interrupted Poroshenko’s visit to Germany has become a significant media event of the day. The foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it blamed the attacks on “Russian troops” in the Donbass. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that I couldn’t together with foreign Minister of Denmark Anders Samuelsen to visit Shirokino Donetsk region due to the ongoing attacks. Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko sent a letter to the Secretary General of the organization Antonio Guterres, which was blamed for the worsening situation in the Donbass in Moscow. In addition, Ukraine has demanded from the Council of Europe to respond to the situation in the plant. And the President instructed to submit the question on the situation in the UN.

Curiously, the efforts of the Kiev openly will be in vain.

The West’s reaction to what is happening looks dull and formal. Where two years ago were harsh statements with direct attacks against Russia, is now dominated by common language dominated by expressions of deep concern and calls for ceasefire. This was noted and the Council of Europe and European ambassadors, and a Chancellor of Germany and the European Union, and the Red cross and the OSCE.

Thus, large-scale alarmism of Kiev and its requirements open to Europe with accusations against Russia from the West should be very polite response in the style of “Yes, we are very concerned about”.

However, the most interesting in this situation is the position of Russia, expressed press Secretary of the Russian President. It is a curious fact that there are actually three key points.

First, the responsibility for the aggravation fully vested in Kyiv, and not just on the security forces. It was clearly stated the intention of the Ukrainian authorities, including President Poroshenko, to disrupt the Minsk agreement.

Second, in spite of that, the Kremlin firmly stated that no alternative to the Minsk agreements.

And thirdly, and most curious, Dmitry Peskov, it was noted that breakdown of the ceasefire from the Ukrainian side has taken some “separatist groups”.

In fact, it looks like. Taking a very tough stand against the ongoing deterioration and fully blaming it on the Ukrainian side, the Kremlin has simultaneously left the door open to Ukraine’s new leadership: it can get out of the situation, save face and blame the incident some uncontrolled force.

It seems that in Moscow there is no doubt that this worsening will once again end in nothing, and things will return to status quo the past two years. While the Kiev authorities will not remove the events from any benefits, however, they’ll have to continue to deal with. So, you just have to wait for the next “fit of rage” by the not quite adequate neighbor, in parallel, ensuring the minimization of “damage” on his part.

Given that the head of the Kiev-controlled Donetsk region said about the first signs of an easing of tension in the area Avdeevka, there is hope that it will happen soon enough.
