An inspection trip was made by the group of Ukrainian military on the territory of Russia. In the group were representatives of Denmark and Canada. The purpose of the inspection was to inspect not does the Russian military activity subject to preliminary notification.
As the head of the Russian national Centre for reducing nuclear danger Sergey Ryzhkov, the inspection took place from 16 to 19 January in the framework of the Vienna document 2011 on confidence-building measures and security. Ukrainian inspection team on the territory of the southern military district conducted an audit in the area of Rostov-on-don, Azov, Taganrog, Novoshakhtinsk, Kamensk-Shakhty and Novocherkassk.
During the inspection all the wishes of the inspection team on visiting various places in the area, the Russian side was made. In particular, the inspectors were provided with the opportunity to visit the military training grounds “Kadamovsky” and “Kuzminki”, the railway station loading and unloading “Matveev Kurgan” and “Chapri”. In addition, inspectors received briefings from commanders of all military units and formations located in the area of inspection.
“Unfortunately, – said Ryzhkov, – contrary to the current practice of its implementation, the head of the Ukrainian inspection group on completion of the inspection, flatly refused to inform the Russian escort team its findings and the results of the work”.
Thus, according to the Russian defense Ministry once again confirmed the reluctance of the Ukrainian side to show transparency in the implementation of a document intended to strengthen confidence and security.
