Diplomatic trick: the Minister Tkachev was invited to Berlin despite sanctions

The German authorities have bypassed sanctions against the Minister of agriculture of Russia, Alexander Tkachev, to invite him to Berlin. The fact that Tkachev is in the sanctions list, so entry to the EU is closed for him.

Germany went on diplomatic tricks to invite a Minister to Berlin to bypass the sanctions, according to RND. As expected, Alexander Tkachev will arrive in the capital of Germany on January 22, where he will participate in the meeting of agriculture Ministers of the G20 countries.

Since Tkachev was included in the sanctions list of the EU in 2014, when he held the post of Governor of the Krasnodar territory, with his arrival having problems.

In order to circumvent the restriction, the German government decided to hold a Ministerial meeting under the auspices of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE), of which Germany currently holds the presidency. It is noted that this format allows the presence in Berlin of persons included in “black lists”.

Sanctions against Russia were imposed, the US and the EU in stages from summer 2014 after the annexation of Crimea and aggravation of the situation in the South-East of Ukraine. In response, Russia has imposed a food embargo. Today Vice-Premier of the Russian government Igor Shuvalov has made the lifting of Russian restrictions against countries of the West on 31 December 2017.
