Russian diplomats, expelled from US, most likely, will not be able to continue working in countries that are members of NATO – such opinion was expressed by head of the Department of diplomacy of MGIMO, a former Deputy foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Panov.
“Under the Obama administration we have with US in fact the “cold war”, – said Alexander Panov. And that was in the era of the cold war, is repeated, including the expulsion of diplomats, there were more widespread cases, not only in the US but in the UK, in France…
In itself this is certainly primarily an indicator of the level of our bilateral relations. Secondly, it is, of course, and a “small” merchant’s policy of the Obama administration. Obviously, it was a very great desire somehow to spoil the relationship before the New year… And don’t come up with anything better than, going, to slam the door in that way.
As for the diplomats, they will return to Russia, will continue to work. Of course, in the United States or other countries belonging to NATO, the visa they are likely to give will not be. But in other States this is not an obstacle”.
We will remind that on December 29 the U.S. State Department announced a 35 Russian diplomats persona non grata due to the fact that their actions did not correspond to the status of a diplomatic employee (assuming they were engaged in intelligence gathering). To leave the country they were given 72 hours.
The state Department did not specify the names of persons declared persona non grata. “It is a common practice. noted in this connection Alexander Panov. – Sometimes the names are published, but more often still they prefer not to publicize”.
