Monday, October 24, Director of the theatre “Satyricon” Konstantin Raikin spoke at the seventh Congress of the Union of theatrical figures of Russia with a speech about the ideological terror of the authorities in relation to art. According to him, now on the art are “rude, arrogant, hiding behind lofty words about patriotism” attacks. Prohibition of censorship — “the greatest event in secular values”, and someone “itching” to change, said Raikin.

Emotional speech of Director of “Satyricon” has caused a wide public resonance. Thus, the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that “censorship is impermissible”, but urged not to confuse it with the state order. According to him, if the government gives money for the performance, it “may denote a particular subject.”

In response Andrey Zvyagintsev, the Director of the acclaimed film “Leviathan,” wrote a critical column in the newspaper “Kommersant”. In his opinion, “it is obvious that in the space of the cultural life of the country censorship is in full growth”, and “to deny this can only be a liar or ignorant”.

Almost no project is created without the participation of the state and, consequently, all of them can be called “state orders,” says Zvyagintsev. In his words, “pathetic crafts”, which orders the state, “very limited — and craft execution, and narrow view of the subject, though any subject.”

Zvyagintsev resent the confidence of the government that the money it allocates to certain performances, belong to her. “The money, which they “bought” their agitation, taken from the people. The people living such a huge wealth of opinions and desires that they had no power to guess,” he writes.

The Director also notes that Sands did not comment on Raikin’s words about the “monstrous antics of people publicly breaking the sculpture and pour a urine-pictures”.

According to Zvyagintsev, “the government just prefer not to notice” as “the activity of these bred like rabbits public associations, immoral guardians of morality is the true state order, even if the offended act from our own convictions.”
