The Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday that the Russian and Syrian military from 10 a.m. stopped airstrikes on Aleppo. According to him, it is necessary for the introduction of the “humanitarian pause” in the region, which will start functioning on Thursday, October 20.

In this regard, Shoigu urged countries with influence on armed groups in Eastern Aleppo, to convince their leaders to stop fighting and leave town.
To implement this plan 20 October from 8.00 to 16.00 (GMT) will be declared a special “humanitarian pause”. “The beginning of the “humanitarian pause” Syrian troops would withdraw to a distance, allowing the militants to freely leave Eastern Aleppo with weapons specially created for the two corridors: the first — on the road to Castello, the second — in the area of Souk El-Hai,” said the Minister. In addition, another six corridors will be open to civilians.
Shoigu also said that all who are interested in soonest stabilization of the situation in Aleppo, should go to the real steps, and not “continue to engage in political demagoguery.”
