Novak rejected the possibility of granting Ukraine a discount on gas


Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak said on air of “Russia 24” that at the present time there are no preconditions for granting Ukraine a discount on gas, as the price is now at the level and even below the prices prevailing in the European market.

He confirmed that Russia is ready to sell gas to “Naftogaz of Ukraine” for the prepayment conditions. However, he questioned the availability of funds from the Ukrainian company.

Novak also reported a shortage Ukraine is currently in the vaults of 1.2-2 billion cubic meters of gas. According to him about these risks he spoke at the International energy Congress in Istanbul with the Vice-President of the EC maroš Šefčovič.
