The black Book of invasive alien plants establishing by analogy with the red book, the specialists of the Main Botanical garden named. Tsitsin of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the assistance of 50 professionals-nerds from different regions of the country. If in the red Book are placed the names and photos of rare and endangered species of flora, in Black, on the contrary, scientists introduce readers to the most harmful trees and herbs, from which it is desirable to get rid of if they grew in the garden.
As reported by “MK” one of the authors of the “black list”, an employee of GBS Julia Vinogradova, the Black book of flora of Central Russia was released 6 years ago, and now botanists the European part of Russia joined the Siberians and the representatives of the Far East, which were sent to Moscow their lists of so-called invasive plant species. This plant species, the seeds of which were intentionally or accidentally been introduced into our territory from other countries. In recent years, so they feel at home that they began to displace from the fields and forests of local herbs and trees. This aggressive strategy not only causes environmental damage to the Russian flora, but also the economic damage to the country. For example, the American (or ash) maple, “coming in” to the Siberian pine groves, in some places completely replacing valuable conifers, forming a true maple thickets.
By the way, American maple tops the list common to all regions of Russia invasive plants. Once, in the nineteenth century, it was brought to Russia from North America, nursed in the Botanical gardens… Now he’s “let himself go” everywhere except in the Murmansk region, having survived almost our Russian decorative platanolistnoy maple with larger leaves. In second place overall green enemies of the Russian flora is a canadian melkolepestnik — an annual herbaceous plant, it is a malicious weed in our fields, competing cultural types. In third place is the prickly echinocystis of the gourd family, came to us from North America. He is flooding the gardens in suburban towns, is very fond of the coastal area near the rivers.
As for the infamous Sosnowski’s Hogweed, which bothers the residents of Central Russia as us enemy number one, for other areas it is not yet a “violator”, as in Siberia and the far East are only beginning to take root. But here are very familiar with loropetalum the cornflower, which is literally flooding the meadow pasture. And since the invader does not possess high nutritional qualities, cow, eating it, result in less milk.
As explained “MK” head of the laboratory of industrial botany of the Kuzbass Botanical garden Yury Manakov, many harmful plants penetrates to the Siberian land trade routes from Europe and southern countries. In 20 years the strongest of them can displace, if not all, a good half of the native species of plants. In order to slow down this process, and scientists are sounding the alarm.
Only in the Black book of Russia will include about one hundred invasive species, among which about half are those who have already moved in and created problems for agriculture, and half of those who are “put on account” as a potential pernicious weed, which can still show themselves in the future.
According to the developers, these “black lists” of harmful plants are not for nerds (those already know who they are dealing) in the first place, they should be of interest to heads of regions, representatives of Rosprirodnadzora and simple gardeners. The new edition will include all of the necessary annotations “to discover” malware types, it also introduces the basic ways to combat the insidious plants that some people still mistaken for a harmless decorative pot.
