The Russians have less trust in the media publications about the economy


Fund “Public opinion” conducted a survey among the citizens of Russia and their level of confidence to the media. It turned out that from August 2015 on a 10% increase in the number of those who do not trust the media reports about the situation in the economy. The share of such Russians made up 51%. The share of those who trusts fell to 40%.

An even greater number of Russians (61%) believe that media give an incomplete picture of what is happening in the economy.

46% of respondents believe that things in Russia were worse off than was reported by the media.

As a whole, the interest of Russians to economic data fell, as polls show that 62% perceive such information without special attention. In this case, despite the fact that the majority of Russians answered that the ruble influences their life, 56% of respondents said that the course is not being followed.

Interestingly, in contrast to the government and economists, the Russians wanted the national currency grew and the dollar and Euro would have decreased.
