Merkel, with the support of Obama is going to initiate new sanctions on Russia

German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to the European Council meeting on October 21 to make a proposal to toughen sanctions against Russia because of Moscow’s actions in Syria.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports that the new sanctions should include Russian defense industry.

Earlier, U.S. President Barack Obama assured Merkel that he would support such a “harsh reaction” to Russia’s actions in Syria, if the Chancellor will be able to agree on such measures.
